Retail Sales Representative - Seattle, WA

Position Summary:

Steinway & Sons is currently seeking an experienced Retail Sales Representative, with a passion for luxury and a love of the arts, for our Seattle based showroom.

The right candidate has a proven track record in a proactive approach to sales, with past experience in business development, lead generating activities and generating sales prospects.  The candidate must have an outgoing and engaging personality who can engage and build relationships with clients on many different levels.  While the ability to play piano is not a requirement for the job, musical and tonal understanding is highly beneficial as our clients often seek guidance and recommendations during instrument selections.  In addition to focusing on showroom sales, a large part of this job will involve outreach and business development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Achieve personal sales goals and support store in achieving goals
  • Develop sales strategy and forecasts for customer/client base
  • Develop and cultivate customer leads and relationships
  • Implement a sales referral outreach program for key influencers (i.e. piano technicians, real estate agents, designers, piano teachers…)
  • Coordinate all piano technical needs after sale follow up (tuning, etc.) and in store as needed
  • Use the CRM system to manage and follow up with leads
  • Support all in store and regional promotional events (generating and cultivating sales)
  • Address customer issues in a timely manner


Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and experience in customer service or sales

  • Superior communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel

Foreman, Maintenance

Position Summary:

Steinway & Sons is seeking an experienced Foreman for our Maintenance Department at our factory location. This role is responsible for but not limited to maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment as well as supervising staff.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and oversees the industrial repair of production equipment and maintenance work assignments performed by internal company maintenance technicians or contractors
  • Assesses equipment, materials and labor required to complete a wide range of machine repairs and maintenance tasks to insure that jobs are complete to high standards
  • Proactively seeks out waste of resources and initiates actions to improve methods and reduce costs
  • Assists in the selection of new hires as well as on going coaching, development, and disciplining of current union maintenance staff.  Involved in day-to-day supervising and work assignment to insure work force productivity
  • Ensures that maintenance employees gain and maintain a thorough understanding of safety regulations and provide guidance on departmental and company policies and procedures
  • Has good working knowledge of standard OSHA regulations and practices (e.g. Lock Out/Tag Out, Haz Comm)
  • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files related to facilities inspections and compliance reporting in order to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Insures that the Maintenance Department tools, parts & equipment, and vehicles are well maintained and are able to meet intended objectives
  • Maintains production and facilities on-hand spare parts inventory
  • Obtains and reviews price quotes for the procurement of parts, services, and labor for various maintenance and facilities projects
  • Has broad experience and familiarity with building HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic and fire safety systems
  • Ensure routine preventive maintenance on equipment is done

 

Qualifications, education and experience:

  • At least 5 year’s supervisory experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting
  • Able to analyze, plan and solve problems
  • Able to read prints and drawings and have solid math and mechanical aptitude
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and execute sound independent judgment
  • Able to communicate effectively with diverse groups

Industrial Electrician

Position Summary:

Steinway & Sons is seeking an Industrial Electrician for our Queens manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for but not limited to routine preventative maintenance in controlling electrical machinery throughout the plant.
 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plans, executes and estimates all electrical jobs(i.e. installing machinery, light fixtures, and pumps without supervision)
  • Utilizes test equipment meter to determine voltage and amperage of circuits where electrical problems exist
  • Trouble shoots electrical problems in the factory and independently determines and repairs problems
  • Connect machines, light fixtures and pumps to appropriate wires and hook wires to designated power sources
     

Qualifications, education and experience:

  • 3 to 5 years experience
  • Must possess a trade school certificate
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Ability to determine the appropriate wire usage by using the New York City electrical code book as a guide

Foreman, Tone Regulating

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for but not limited to scheduling and assigning work, ensure quality standards are met and coordinating interdepartmental activities and training.
 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assign a daily work schedule to each employee while coordinating and supervising work flow within the department to ensure production goals are met
  • Responsible for following and ensuring all safety protocols and policies are met by union employees
  • Maintain high quality standards while developing processes and training to gain quality improvements
  • Maintain effective employee relations – handles first step in grievance procedures
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure proper function
  • Ability to provide orientation, instruction and training to new employees and aid with improving skills of current employees
  • Maintain inventory of required materials and equipment
  • Maintain related production and employee records
     

Qualifications, education and experience:

  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • 7 years related experience in action, tone regulation and piano technology
  • Ability to analyze quality of tone, tune and functions of piano action and internal components

Retail Service Manager

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for but not limited to supervising and coordinating activities of workers to ensure that all upkeep and delivery of pianos is completed in an efficient and timely manner. Responsible for the preparation and after sale servicing of pianos sold through Steinway Hall.
 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage Steinway Halls retail service department in order to prepare pianos to retail floor standards, prepare pianos for delivery and handle in the field service issues
  • Manage and schedule retail shipments to and from Steinway Hall
  • Produce and maintain all necessary reporting documents such as Daily Service Spreadsheet, Stock Report, Receiving and Shipping logs, Timekeeper etc.
  • Assure billing for service and shipping are correct and provide them to our finance department on a timely basis
  • Attend and assist in the service and shipping needs for all Steinway Halls off-site promotional events
  • Schedule our outside polishers to other Steinway Galleries in the tristate area
  • Manage all moving of pianos in our Retail Prep Center
  • Maintain and increase relationships with the technical community
  • Maintain and develop qualified technical contractors
  • Prepare all Spirio Pianos for East Coast Retail Showrooms
     

Qualifications, education and experience:

  • College degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 3 – 5 years successful customer service experience
  • Piano knowledge a must

Business Development and Institutional Representative

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for generating sales through a combination of actively prospecting and selling Steinway products to higher education and secondary institutions in the greater Chicago area (includes universities, colleges, Private Schools, K-12 Public Schools, and Houses of Worship, etc.). The right candidate has min. 3 years’ experience in Key Account Management experience -preferably some within contract sales to institutions. A proven track record and substantial experience in business development, lead generating activities and generating sales prospects is required. The candidate must have an outgoing and engaging personality who can engage and build relationships with clients on many different levels. While the ability to play piano is not a requirement for the job, musical and tonal understanding is highly beneficial as our clients often seek guidance and recommendations during instrument selections.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Achieve personal sales goals and support region in achieving goals
  • Build, develop and cultivate strong relationships with secondary institutions
  • Develop and cultivate customer leads and relationships in assigned territory
  • Implement a sales referral outreach program for key influencers (i.e. piano technicians, real estate agents, designers, piano teachers…)
  • Coordinate all piano technical needs after sale follow up (tuning, etc.) and in store as needed - Use the CRM system to manage and follow up with leads
  • Support all in store and regional promotional events (generating and cultivating sales)
  • Resolve customer issues in a timely manner
  • Attend concerts, galas, and other related events for the purpose of relationship building
  • Make public presentations to individuals and groups with professional sales recommendations
  • Assist and advise in fund-raising efforts for institutions requiring this aid

CAD Designer/Drafter

Position Summary:

Steinway & Sons is seeking a CAD Engineer/Designer for our Queens, NY manufacturing operation.  This position supports the product design and development activities in our engineering department and is largely involved with creating and maintaining the 3D computer models of the various instruments in the Steinway product offering.

In addition this position will work with the HH CAD Systems Administrator in implementing more effective user “best practices” and overall workstation efficiency.  The right candidate will take care of the NY NX-TeamCenter workstation configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting, which is expected to require approximately 10 hours work per week.  

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create 3D models of piano parts and assemblies as well as tools and fixtures related to the making of these parts
  • Manage the CAD revision process as changes are made to the design and/or manufacturing process
  • Generate shop floor working drawings as well as document and assist in specifying process operations
  • Aid in the reconciliation process when computer models do not agree with actual part or assembly
  • Provide technical support while troubleshooting day-to-day issues related to the Teamcenter and NX application software
  • Improve Teamcenter integration with NX through customization changes, testing, and error resolution and manage data transfer between internal team members
  • Participate in NX upgrades and testing
  • Responsible for maintaining security and access rights to all engineering documentation and CAD data
  • Work with Users to define Company Best Practices and configurations
  • Aid in managing all Engineering, Design, and Analysis software, licenses, and configuration
  • Work with IT to upgrade license files on servers
  • Support Document Control process
  • Perform tests for environment integrity and performance
  • Perform Teamcenter system administrator activities, such as removing process & data locks,
    Troubleshoots and resolves system problems. Works proactively to identify potential issues and recommends/implements preventative solutions
  • Identifies and analyzes system and user needs, as well as equipment requirements. Writes system and user documentation, including policies and procedures. Develops and delivers user training and presentations on new systems and upgrades
  • Be able to write, modify & update CAD & document handling procedures

Qualifications, education and experience:

  • Associate’s degree in computer-aided design/drafting
  • A strong mechanical background with woodworking, engineering and metalworking process
  • Working knowledge of both Siemens NX (Unigraphics), Solidworks, AutoCAD and current versions NX6 and TC2007
  • Minimum three years’ work experience in a Unigraphics or similar 3D CAD environment
