Open Positions:

Store Room Supervisor

Position/Title: Store Room Supervisor

Department: Stores

Location: Long Island City, NY

Position Type: Full Time

Position Summary:

The store room supervisor is responsible for maintaining and managing inventory flow and supplies for the manufacturing group. This includes receiving, storing, and delivering items as per work orders and designated schedule.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise receipt and issuance of all direct and indirect materials.
  • Issue materials as required on a strict FIFO basis. Verify count on all issues.
  • Train all new personnel and supervise union storeroom clerks.
  • Perform material cycle counts and do verification exercises.
  • Coordinate receipts from receiving function.
  • Oversee and ensure store room security.
  • Provides physical inventory count of materials as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School degree required; some college preferred.
  • Industrial stores experience with a supervisory background.
  • Must be familiar with receiving and part number procedures.
  • Must have working knowledge of inventory control procedures and data entry experience in a stockroom environment.
Manager of Piano Assembly

Position/Title: Manager of Piano Assembly

Department: Manufacturing

Location: Long Island City, NY

Position Type: Full Time

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility for this role is to oversee the piano assembly manufacturing process and ensure the assembly/production process runs efficiently and effectively in order to meet production goals. The Manger of Assembly also works with the purchasing department to find cost effective, quality materials used in the process; constantly looking for ways to cut costs and streamline processes.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Runs the day to day operations for Belly, Grand Finishing, Tone Regulating, and Shipping & receiving departments.
  • Responsible for department’s performance based on production schedules & plans.
  • Responsible for improving quality by tracking metrics of internal and external data and insure positive trends.
  • Examine and introduce process improvements, tooling & machinery to gain consistency of the instrument in both fit & finish, and touch & tone.
  • Support Touch & Tone initiatives for selection room ready instruments and serve as a liaison between factory, Selection Room, C&A, and dealer technical staff.
  • Provide support for Touch & Tone initiatives by promoting training of trainers and trainees under the recommendations of the Technical Trainer.
  • Assist and help guide OSK with fit & finish and technical improvements of plates.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly production shop with great attention to housekeeping.
  • Fully supports and takes leadership in developing a “safety culture” as high priority.
  • Maintains departmental budgets and targets for headcount, and expenses.
  • Manages union workforce supporting the guidelines and protocols of HR and the CBA.
  • Provides clear measurable goals and objectives for subordinates.
  • Communicates effectively in a positive manner to support colleagues and staff.
  • Maintains CI principles of WIP and process flow.
  • Represents Steinway & Sons that reflects the reputation of the instrument. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in managing a production workforce.
  • Displays a good understanding piano making concepts and principles.
  • Hands-on experience in tuning, voicing and action regulation: piano technician.
  • Experience in initiating CI principles.
  • Knowledgeable in production flow and IE concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills in WORD & EXCEL.
  • General understanding of an MRP system of production management. 
Inventory Control Manager

Position/Title: Inventory Control Manager

Department: Product Distribution

Position Summary:

Manage and coordinate status, location and disposition of product line inventory, and provide detailed information to assist in sales analysis and forecasting, by location. Assist in managing logistics for moving piano inventory.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Manage all non-sales inventory moves
  • Manage inventory availability; control inventory stocking levels
  • Analyze logistics for cost effectiveness
  • Manage seasonal festival needs and inventory and prepare festival pricing templates
  • Canadian Customs invoice and US Customs duty drawback
  • Manage school loaner needs and inventory
  • Assurance of wholesale sales monthly closing
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy of wholesale and festival locations
  • Manage physical inventory at Keyboard Encore warehouse
  • Manage inventory levels required at each warehouse location (LIC, KY and CA)
  • Manage Navision project for increased inventory visibility
  • Manage wholesale and retail logistics for best inventory moves between locations
  • Prepare all export documentation – invoices, packing lists, shipper instructions
  • Data analysis extraction from Navision for management reporting and graphing.
  • Participate in physical inventory in Kentucky.
  • Calculate intercompany pricing 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Industrial Engineering/Business

Position Summary: 

Steinway & Sons is currently seeking an experienced Sales Associate with a passion for luxury and a love of the arts for its company-owned showroom in New Jersey.

The right candidate has a proven track record in successfully generating sales within luxury retail or project type environments. The candidate must have an outgoing and engaging personality who can engage with clients on many different levels. While the ability to play piano is not a requirement for the job, musical and tonal understanding is highly beneficial as our clients often seek guidance and recommendations during instrument selections. Experience with business development and lead generating activities are preferred to ensure a continued pro-active approach to sales. In addition to focusing on showroom sales, a large part of this job will involve outreach and business development with the Asian community in New Jersey. 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Achieve personal sales goals and support store in achieving goals
  • Develop and cultivate customer leads and relationships
  • Implement a sales referral outreach program for key influencers (i.e. piano technicians, real estate agents, designers, piano teachers…)
  • Coordinate all piano technical needs after sale follow up (tuning, etc) and in store as needed

The right candidate has a proven track record in a proactive approach to sales, with past experience in business development, lead generating activities and generating sales prospects. The candidate must have an outgoing and engaging personality who can engage and build relationships with clients on many different levels. While the ability to play piano is not a requirement for the job, musical and tonal understanding is highly beneficial as our clients often seek guidance and recommendations during instrument selections. In addition to focusing on showroom sales, a large part of this job will involve outreach and business development with the Asian community in New York.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a sales strategy designed to engage with the Asian music community
  • Develop and cultivate customer leads and relationships 
  • Attend and develop off-site promotional and prospecting events in high traffic areas such as mall placements, local shopping centers, home shows, trade shows, designer conventions, etc
  • Implement a sales referral outreach program for key influencers (i.e. piano technicians, real estate agents, designers, piano teachers…)
