Eastern Michigan University announces $2 million All-Steinway School campaign

September 2007, Ypsilanti MI — In a ceremony held at legenday Pease Auditorium on the campus of Eastern Michigan University, Dr. David O. Woike officially made public the school’s All Steinway School campaign and its commitment to replace aging instruments with new Steinway pianos. The announcement was made during a recital by Steinway artist Joel Schoenhals who performed on legenday Steinway pianos once played by Vladimir Horowitz and Van Cliburn as well as the Steinway Rhapsody built in honor of the 100th birthday of George Gershwin and the school’s own Steinway Model D. The pianos were prepared for the event by the Paul Lehman, chief concert technician at Eastern Michigan University.
